While sailfish are still here they are not being caught in any good numbers. It is very likely that it will pick back up again before the season ends.  Once dolphin are being caught in good numbers and it will stay that way until at least August or September. For those lucky enough to find something floating there have been nice wahoo too. Of course the yellowtail snapper will be biting well for the next six months and they offer steady action and are great eating and are closer so you don't need a full day to catch them.

Sailfish abound in the Atlantic water off the Florida Keys from sometime in September until about May. Captain Robert Mathias has been fishing the Restless Too for Sailfish for over thirty four years. We specialize in catching these fish on live bait using light spinning tackle. This has proven to be the most productive, exciting method for catching these magnificent billfish in the Florida Keys. Most of the time you will actually see the Sailfish before it eats the bait. Often we will sight fish for sailfsih, this means we are looking for them swimming in shallow water and when we find them we cast a live bait to them. Often they will be less than 15 feet from the boat when they chase the bait with their sail out of the water. It just doesn't get much more thrilling! We use 12 and 20 pound spinning tackle so it isn't strength, but technique that's involved. Even children can handle this tackle. We have guided many folks to catch their very first billfish, often on the first charter they have ever been on. The goal is to have a good time and teach you what you need to know to hook and catch your own sailfish. Our seasoned crew will explain exactly what you need to do catch these beautiful fish.
